about

Please consider naming your price higher as all profits go to the COALITION FOR THE HOMELESS đź–¤ (details below)

New song The Thief by US based New Zealander Miriam Clancy is a beautiful and haunting track released in support of Coalition For The Homeless.

Written and recorded in isolation in Kutztown, Pennsylvania, The Thief is a time capsule, a message in a bottle drifting over empty streets in the time of pandemic. Within are the hidden dwellers and frontline workers whose hands have become a lifeline - medicating, intubating, comforting, holding up phones connecting the ailing and their grieving beloved. They stand, bearing the light - they become the candle and turn up daily to do it all over again.

Recorded by Miriam Clancy
Mixed in Dublin, Ireland by Ger MacDonnell (The Cure, U2)
Mastered in New Jersey by Joe LaPorta at Sterling Sound
Cover art by New Yorker illustrator Drew Dernavich.

The video - youtu.be/Hp5IENPoUGc was filmed by Winger Brothers during lockdown in an eerie New York on Memorial Day 2020.

All profits go to New York charitable advocacy and direct service organization the Coalition for the Homeless.

Download / donation details: please consider donating $5 or more with your download at miriamclancy-store.square.site or through this bandcamp portal and whatever your donation - be it $2, $5, $20 or more, just 25c of each download will go to help cover production costs - the rest goes to coalitionforthehomeless.org.

lyrics

THE THIEF

Fever shows what I'm thinking of
I'm in the dark and I want your love
Tears run cold and I lie alone
I feel the touch of a strangers glove

Breathe in, breathe in
I know you can hold the night
You, you're the light
The light

Days indoors but I get no sleep
I fear the thief's got a hold on me
You're the one that I'm thinking of
I feel the touch of a strangers glove

Breathe in, breathe in
I know you can hold the night
You, you're the light
The light

Keep my words when I cannot speak
Fill my lungs, be the air I need
Trace my face, feel your warm embrace
I feel your touch in a strangers place

Breathe in, breathe in
I know you can hold the night
You, you're the light
The light

Stay so close to me
Through the dark
Be the candle
