about

Roelof is an ethereal, noirish album track off Miriam's forthcoming LP Black Heart and its a song of loss and love in the aftermath of a disaster on Mt Erebus. With the brooding darkness of an old western soundtrack, Miriam's voice with a nylon guitar and her band lead you through deep canyons and windswept peaks to find the sound of the loneliest man in the world.

⚡︎ lyrics ⚡︎

First he gave away the clothes she wore
He couldn’t bear to see them anymore
Coz she’s not gonna wear them one more time
Farewell, goodnight

He placed her jewels in the hands of other girls
They'd never look as good under the pearls
He threw out everything from her life
Farewell, goodnight

“I said I’d stand beside you
You said you’d stand beside me too
Now I’m lost and I’ve lost you
In the shadow of your wings
Of your wings”

He donned his suit from the day she took his name
And within his car before he slipped away
He said:“My love is dead!
My one delight
Farewell, goodnight”
